Karl Rademacher is currently the Director of Security for one of the University of Chicago’s data research divisions by day, and an avid writer by night. He is the former chief editor of a Governors State University’s newspaper “The Innovator” and staff writer for the Independent Music Network. He is the publisher and fiction editor of Silver Blade.
Susan Babcock has a PhD in Engineering and learned her editing skills on dry technical tomes. She is delighted to now write and edit fantastic stories about knights and beasts that live only in our imaginations.
John C. Mannone is the poetry editor of Silver Blade (and of Abyss & Apex) and serves on the Board of Directors for Silver Pen, Inc. He has over 400 publications of poetry and short fiction in literary and speculative fiction journals, such as The Southern Poetry Anthology (Volume VII, NC), Still: The Journal, Negative Capability, Tupelo Press, Poetica Magazine, The Baltimore Review, Pedestal, Rose Red Review, and Prime Mincer. He has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize in Poetry and twice for the Rhysling Poetry Award. He served as the 2013 Rhysling Chair. Lester L Weil is an ex-professional bassoonist, ex-professor, ex-custom furniture maker and ex-house builder. He is retired and living in Arizona on the Mexico border. Besides being fiction editor for Silver Blade, he is also the editor of The Flash Fiction Press .

THE ROSWELL AWARD FOR SHORT FICTION

SCI-FEST LA: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival is happy to announce the launch our new short story writing contest for adult writers over the age of 18 called THE ROSWELL AWARD. All submissions must be short stories (not plays), must be an original work of science fiction (not fan fiction) and must be no longer than 1500 words. The contest is open to U.S. writers as well as writers outside the U.S. Five finalists will be chosen and their stories will be read aloud by professional actors associated with iconic Sci-Fi TV shows in a special awards ceremony to be held at the festival on May 23, 2015 at 7:00 PM (Memorial Day Weekend). The winner of THE ROSEWELL AWARD FOR SHORT FICTION will receive a donated cash prize of $1,000.00. All stories submitted must be typed in English and must have the contestant’s name, email address and phone number clearly typed on the title page. All entries must be submitted electronically via the website. Entries longer than 1500 words will be disqualified. See terms and conditions for submitting at the website.
